AF-X Fireblocker fire suppression, ecological and certified
AF-X Fireblocker is an advanced fire suppression system designed to effectively control fires in confined spaces. Using patented aerosol technology, it starts as a solid and, once activated, transforms into a fine aerosol that disperses throughout the area. This aerosol interrupts the chemical reactions of the fire, extinguishing flames without depleting oxygen and considerably reducing the damage caused by heat, smoke and water.
- Compact and efficient: smaller and lighter than traditional systems.
- Environmentally-friendly: non-toxic, biodegradable, with no ozone-depleting or global warming potential.
- Long life: durable, with a 15-year service life and minimal maintenance.
- Certified excellence: compliant with international standards (ISO, EN, BSI, KIWA, IMO, Global Mark, NFPA, BRL) and certified for fire protection of lithium-ion batteries.
Some of the things AF-X FIREBLOCKER excels at
Fire-fighting has been considerably optimized by the use of aerosol extinguishing systems. Dry aerosol is a solid which, once activated, neutralizes the fire at its point of origin.

How it works
Once activated, the aerosol extinguisher triggers a reaction in which the released aerosol binds with free radicals.
This action extinguishes the fire without depleting the ambient oxygen content. The solid potassium (K)-based particles have a diameter of less than two ppm (parts per million) and remain suspended in the protected room/enclosure for at least 30 minutes, preventing any further ignition of the fire.

FAQs
What is the AF-X Fireblocker?
The AF-X Fireblocker is an innovative fire extinguishing system using patented aerosol technology. It is designed to quickly detect and extinguish fires in confined spaces, such as electrical cabinets, engine compartments and server rooms.
How does the AF-X Fireblocker work?
Once activated (by a rise in temperature or a smoke detector), the AF-X Fireblocker releases a dry aerosol that disperses rapidly in the space to be protected. This aerosol interrupts the combustion chain reaction, extinguishing the fire without using water or producing harmful by-products.
What are the advantages of the AF-X Fireblocker?
- Effectiveness: Quickly extinguishes fires at source, limiting damage.
- Safety: Does not produce toxic gases, affect oxygen levels or lead to water formation.
- Environment: Environmentally-friendly product with no impact on the ozone layer.
- Discretion: Compact, discreet system, easy to install.
- Maintenance: Low-maintenance.
- Certification: Complies with the most stringent international standards.
What types of fire can the AF-X Fireblocker extinguish?
The AF-X Fireblocker is particularly effective in extinguishing Class A (solids), B (flammable liquids) and C (gases) fires. It is also certified to protect lithium-ion batteries, which present specific fire hazards.
How do I maintain an AF-X Fireblocker system?
Maintenance of an AF-X Fireblocker system is minimal. All you need to do is check the condition of the casing regularly, and make sure there’s nothing blocking the aerosol outlets.
How much does an AF-X Fireblocker system cost?
The cost can vary considerably depending on your specific requirements. For example, the protection of a single, stand-alone electrical cabinet is very different from that of a 45 m3 equipment room.
To secure a 2 m3 electrical cabinet, one nano CS spray equipped with a bi-metal switch trigger may be sufficient.
On the other hand, a room will require more equipment. It will be essential to use 1 or 2 nano BM series aerosols connected to a control panel featuring a smoke detector and an on/off button. A maintenance switch, siren and flashing beacon are also required to complete the installation.
Why choose AF-X Fireblocker?
Quick and easy installation:
-
- Plug-and-play solution: installation is quick and easy, thanks to a system designed to be intuitive.
- No need for complex work: Unlike traditional systems, AF-X Fireblocker requires no major structural modifications.
- (E-Installer): An interactive online installation guide is available to assist installers every step of the way.
-
Simplified installation conditions :
- Location flexibility: AF-X Fireblocker can be installed in places where other systems couldn’t, thanks to the absence of water or gas constraints.
- No piping: Eliminating the need for piping greatly simplifies installation and reduces the risk of leaks.
- Autonomy: The system requires no connection to a water source, making it particularly suitable for locations where access to water is limited.
These elements underline the installation advantages of AF-X Fireblocker, highlighting:
- Quick installation
- The simplicity of the process
- Location flexibility
- Saving time and money
What regulations apply to the installation of aerosol fire extinguishing systems?
French regulations governing the installation of aerosol fire extinguishing systems are constantly evolving, and may vary depending on the specific application.
It is therefore crucial to refer to the most recent official texts, and to consult a risk prevention specialist for precise information tailored to your situation.
However, here are a few key points to bear in mind:
- Decree no. 2010-323 of March 23, 2010: This decree concerns the prevention of risks arising from the use of aerosol dispensers. It defines the general requirements applicable to aerosol dispensers, notably in terms of marking, instructions for use and storage conditions.
- European standards: Aerosol fire-extinguishing systems must generally comply with current European standards, such as EN 15276, which specifies performance requirements for dry condensed aerosol fire-extinguishing systems.
- ICPE (Installations Classées pour la Protection de l’Environnement) regulations: If your facility is subject to authorization under ICPE regulations, specific fire protection requirements may apply, including the use of aerosol extinguishing systems.
- Regulations governing establishments open to the public (ERP): ERP buildings are subject to specific fire safety regulations, which may include requirements for extinguishing systems.
- Other specific regulations: Depending on the activity, other sector-specific regulations may apply, notably in the fields of transport, industry, etc.
The main points to check when installing an aerosol extinguishing system are as follows:
- System compliance with current standards and regulations.
- Fire risk assessment.
- Choosing a system adapted to the nature of the risks to be protected.
- Installation by a qualified professional.
- Implementation of a maintenance procedure.
- Training staff to use the system.
